Maple Palette uses an open-format approach: entries are judged against criteria and judges’ standards, not ranked directly against every other artist on the table.

Registration flow

One competitor profile. Multiple categories. Up to 3 pieces per category.

When registration opens, competitors register once, choose every category they are entering, and may list up to 3 pieces in each category. Adult competitors need a ticket option that includes competition access. Competitors age 16 and under can compete free.

Register when your pieces are ready

You do not need to complete competition registration immediately after buying a ticket. Return to this page whenever you are ready, then add your categories and up to 3 pieces in each.

Edit after you submit

A private email link will let competitors return to add, remove, or change entries before online editing closes. The editing deadline will be posted before registration opens.

Check in the physical pieces

The competition team receives the work onsite, confirms each piece, and places it in the appropriate category area.

Judging + awards

For an entrant with multiple pieces in one category, judges select the strongest at a glance and formally judge only that piece.

Composition

How the piece is built, framed, contrasted, and arranged to guide the viewer’s eye.

Creativity

Colour, freehand, texture, basing, OSL, conversions, story choices, and unexpected ideas.

Impact

The immediate read: story, mood, presence, and what the viewer understands at a glance.

Execution

Technical control, consistency, detail, finish, and deliberate decision-making.

Entry photos

Optional, but genuinely useful.

Entry photos are optional but encouraged. A photo helps the competition team identify your piece and may help us include it in the awards presentation.

Registration-form permission: I give Maple Palette permission to use my submitted entry photos for event operations, awards presentations, and Maple Palette event-related media.
